Blake-Jones Real Estate

Blake-Jones is the name given to the area between Pape and Greenwood Avenues, south of the Danforth and north of Riverdale, which is also known as “The Pocket” due to its shape. The neighbourhood is home to a couple of small parkettes as well as the TTC Greenwood Yard, and has a quaint residential feel with a strong community spirit. The area is dotted with restaurants and grocery stores, has a strong Muslim community at the north end, where the 25,000-square-foot Madina Masjid mosque is also located. It’s serviced by the Bloor-Danforth subway line at its northern end, while buses connect the area north-south.

Varied Flavours

The area retains some of the Danforth’s Greek influence with restaurants like Athens, but there is a huge variety of eateries lining the northern border of the neighbourhood: The Greenwood Smokehouse is a popular barbecue joint that serves up craft beers to wash down succulent meat, and you’ll also find everything from Indian and Pakistani to Ethiopian fare.

Outdoor Exploration

In addition to the Phin Avenue Parkette, the area contains Kempton Howard Park and the Eastview Avenue Community Centre, which offers activities and children’s programmes. The neighbourhood also has an active socially engaged community that holds free events for residents, such as skating and street parties and pub nights.
